Benny Bunny Vanishes!
Wednesday, April 1st, 2009Dear Pandas,
Here is a report of what happened last night:
“I know what we should do. Let’s sleep in our tree houses tonight and keep our eyes peeled for anything suspicious. Maybe the egg thief will come again tonight.” Max’s suggestion wasn’t a bad idea, but it made me a bit uneasy. What if while keeping a look-out a real burglar happened to stop by? Then we’d be dealing with someone pretty dangerous.
We chatted it over and made a plan – at exactly 9:00 at night we packed up our sleeping bags and headed out to the tree house. We tiptoed everywhere, since if he saw us the thief would for sure run away. Benny fiddled around with his torch. “What are you doing? Turn that thing off! Do you want someone to see us?” We certainly didn’t have to wait long. At 11:00 we heard some rustling in the bushes. Could it be the egg thief? Benny was so curious, he leaned far out of the tree house window. I ran to help him catch his balance again, but it was too late – he fell headlong out the window. I heard a whispered “Ouch!” and Max and I stuck our heads out the window to see if Benny was okay. “Everything’s still intact. I’ll be just…” But Benny didn’t finish his sentence. Out of the shrubs appeared a large sack that suddenly enveloped Benny. Max and I wanted to help, but but the dark figure scurried away with the sack on his back before we could make a move. The sack was moving wildly and we could hear Benny’s muffled shouts: “Ella, Max, help me! The fox has kidnapped me!”
