Benny Bunny’s Bounce Back

Friday, April 3rd, 2009
Dear Pandas,

Yesterday we told you all about the search for the egg thief and our attempts to catch him red-handed. It was anything but successful, however. The egg thief not only stole the eggs, but Benny Bunny himself while he was at it!

With a one-track mind, we decided to pack up our stuff and set out for the search for Benny. We were really worried about him. As Max slammed the door behind him a dark figure began slowly to approach us from around the corner. Max gave a sudden shudder and clung to my shoulder. And here I thought that men were supposed to protect the women…

The eerie figure came closer and closer. The creature was tousled and messy and had two great horns. Max pleaded with me to run away, but I grabbed his jacket and wouldn’t let him go. The moonlight made everything suddenly clear. That was no eerie figure. Those were no horns, but ears! Benny’s ears, as a matter of fact! “Where on earth did you come from?” I yelled to Benny. “Let’s go inside first. I’ll tell you all about it.”

After a hot chocolate, Benny began his story:

“After being tossed about, trapped in a sack for around 13 minutes, I was thrown onto a table. The sack was opened and I tumbled out. As my eyes readjusted to the light, I made out a figure, then knew exactly who I was dealing with – Harold Hare stood right in front of me. Behind him was a large fox. Harry stood looming: “Benny, I’ve warned you. I am the only one to be the successor of the Easter Bunny – no one and I mean no one else. We have hidden your eggs so well that you’ll never be able to find them, but just to be sure, we will keep you here until Easter.” But they didn’t know whom they were dealing with. Harry Hare left me alone with the shady-looking fox. I waited until he wasn’t looking, then jumped out the window to freedom. I ran like the wind. I was so scared.”

And now, Benny? What do we do now? Max chimed in: “I have an idea. The residents of Panfu will surely help you in your search for the missing eggs. Go to the pony stables and we’ll tell the kids how to help.”

What a great idea. We really can’t let Harold Hare win this thing. Please come this Friday to the pony stables and help poor Benny Bunny. The fox mentioned that he hid an egg for every day, so if it’s possible, come by every day to help in the search. When you have them all, Benny will have a surprise for you. Oh yeah, and say hi to Benny from us!

Be good Pandas,
