Chat ’til midnight at the Halloween party!

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

Good morning Pandas!

Tonight is the night! It’s Halloween and the Panfu Halloween party is tonight! All Pandas are invited!

Don’t forget to don a super-creepy outfit to scare all the other Pandas silly. If you’ve found all of the jack-o-lanterns and lit them up, you’ll get a great costume from the Root Monster. It also happens to be the winner of the Panfu Halloween fashion contest, so go see if it’s yours!

Do you Pandas know the history of Halloween? This day was celebrated by the Celts more than 2,000 years ago in England to say goodbye to the summer. People also thought that the souls of the dead awoke and returned to their old houses. Spooky, don’t you think?

The name ‘Halloween’ came about a little later and stands for ‘All Hallows’ Eve’. Basically, the evening of all the ghosts! Wooooooo!!

We’re really excited about the Halloween party. There will be a couple of surprise guests and also all Pandas are allowed to chat until midnight. So after you get done trick-or-treating, stop by Panfu and party late into the night! Have you seen the ballroom decorations yet?

Also, take a look at the item machine today in the cave. There’s something special in there just for Halloween!

Be good Pandas,

Max and Ella

P.S. – Jay Pea sent us a message that he’ll be coming to Panfu again next week. He probably doesn’t want to miss the awesome ice party! Tune in for more details!

Max and Ella’s Guide to Pumpkin Carving

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Boo!

As promised, we are here today with the instructions on how to make your own jack-o-lantern. Ella and I already tried it out on Wednesday, but unfortunately Kamaria smashed our pumpkin thinking it was an evil spirit. But these things happen.

Kürbis-schnitzen1

First off, be sure to ask your parents for help. Pumpkins can be rather thick and one needs a big, sharp knife to cut through them. This can be very dangerous and we don’t want any Pandas losing fingers!

You will need: big, round pumpkin, a pen, a largish spoon, and a knife. Also, don’t forget the tea light to put in your pumpkin to make it glow.

Draw whatever you want on your pumpkin. Make it funny, scary, spooky, confused – whatever! Don’t forget to draw a circle around the top of the pumpkin. That’s where you’ll cut it open to scoop out the innards and put in the candle.

Get your parents to help you with this part. Cut around the top and then use the spoon to take out all the pumpkin guts. Bake the seeds for a tasty treat! Once your pumpkin is nice and clean on the inside, cut along the other lines you’ve drawn.

Now light a tea light, turn off all the lights and put it in your pumpkin. You’re done! Scare ‘em dead, slugger!

Kamaria’s Fondness for Smashing Pumpkins

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Hiya Pandas,

Have you stopped by the castle yet? It’s been taken over by the roots of an incredible tree monster!

I’ve never heard of a tree monster. It looks pretty creepy, though. Max and I stopped by yesterday and had a little chat with the monster. Max hid behind me a bit because he was scared that it would grab him! We found out that the tree monster isn’t all bad – it’s just that some dark forces are overtaking his soul and he’s doing his best to fight against them. It’s kinda sad.

Don’t worry, Ella, I’m sure that lots of Pandas will be on the search for the jack-o-lanterns. You have to light them all and then the tree will be back to his normal self.

I hope you’re right. In the mean time, Max and I have been carving our own pumpkins. Max came over to my tree house with a gigantic pumpkin. I don’t know how he carried it up all those steps. We did a good job carving a very creepy face into it. Afterwards, we lit a candle and put it inside so the face would glow. It looked great! Satisfied with our work, we went back inside to have a bit of pumpkin tea.

That’s when we heard someone outside the tree house: “You jack-o-lantern ghosts won’t fool me! I’ll get every last one of you!” Then we heard a big thump.

We ran to the door and that’s when we saw it – Kamaria stood on the porch over our smashed pumpkin with a broomstick. She looked very satisfied with herself. That’s when we had to tell her it was our Halloween decoration. She still didn’t believe us…

Oh well, we can make a new one. You can make one, too! On Friday we’ll post step-by-step instructions on how to make your own jack-o-lantern. You can look for a pattern yourself if you want and then we’ll guide you from there!

Curious Events, as reported by Kamaria

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Hello wonderful Pandas,

Have you already noticed the strange things going on around Panfu? After all, Ella was attacked by some tree roots last week and now the tree is growing into a giant monstrosity that is slowly overtaking the entire castle. That can’t be a coincidence!

In the meantime, I’m terrified to step one paw outside even though there are some plants in the jungle that I need to be collecting. I always carry a bottle of troll spit with me just in case. It just took a couple of droplets to free Ella’s foot from the tree last week. Be careful, my dear Pandas. I don’t want anyone getting hurt! I know Max and Ella are trying to figure out what is wrong with this tree.

Staying with the topic of Halloween, I wanted to tell you Pandas about the creepy monster masks that you can download and cut out on the Panfu computer in the city. Max came in wearing one this morning and scared the willies out of me.

The Root of the Problem

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Hey Pandas,

We’ll tell you the rest of the story before we head out again to search for Pompoms. Where were we? Oh yeah…

Ella screamed like a barrel full of smashed cats. The root of the tree had wrapped around her foot like a snake and wouldn’t let up its grip. I yelled for help, but there was no one around to help us. Suddenly, I heard a voice from above: “Who’s making so much noise down there?” It was Kamaria looking down from her tower!

Max shouted back “Kamaria, help us! Ella’s foot is caught in some tree roots!” Kamaria’s eyes widened and she shouted back “Hold on! Help is on the way!”

She came down in no time and pulled out a glass bottle with red liquid inside. “This is troll spit. It just has to help!” She sprinkled a few droplets on the roots, which immediately began to sizzle and burn. The roots then retreated back to the tree and my foot was freed.

Ella fell into my arms while Kamaria inspected the tree. She told us that there were evil powers in play and that we should be very careful. After all, it is almost Halloween. Ghosts, spooks, and other creepy creatures tend to show up every year around this time.

Be careful Pandas,

Max and Ella

I Dream of Birdie

Friday, October 23rd, 2009

Hey Pandas,

Incredible things are happening on Panfu! I helped Ella look for Pompoms yesterday and we were able to find two – one in the library and the other in the disco. Ella was so happy about our progress that she got up extra early this morning at 6:00 a.m. on the dot. That means she was knocking my tree house door at 6:15…

I was dreaming at the time of a woodpecker pecking wildly at the bark on my tree. It got louder and louder and then started yelling at me in Ella’s voice. That’s when I woke up.

I sure had to yell loudly to get you to get up!

I crawled out of my warm blankets and let her in. I got dressed quickly and we were off on the search. We went to the castle first and I wanted to go straight in, but Ella stood with a funny look on her face right at the drawbridge. I asked her what was wrong.

“Something is funny here. Something just isn’t right,” I thought to myself. Then something suddenly grabbed for my foot and held on tight. I grabbed onto Max and held onto him for my life!

I couldn’t believe it! It was a root from a tree wrapping around Ella’s foot. I had never seen such a thing! I wanted to tear it away, but then I would have to let go of Ella. I yelled for help, but there was no one around to help us.

It scares me just thinking about it. Let’s tell the rest tomorrow, Max. I gotta get back to looking for those Pompoms.

The Wrath of Carl

Wednesday, October 21st, 2009

Hello Pandas,

Carl Caruso seems to be rather angry at me for losing his Pompoms. I knocked  on his tree house door this morning to tell him I’m sorry. He was so angry that he didn’t even want to let me in. Instead, he yelled at me from inside his tree house:

“Ella, you’ve done enough! Why don’t you just help the other Pandas on the search for my beloved Pompoms? I’ll never speak to you again unless you’re able to gather all of my Pompoms and bring them back to me. I miss having something to cuddle so much…”

His voice trailed off and then I heard loud, heaving sobs from inside. I tiptoed off to think about the whole situation.

I don’t think it’s such a bad thing that the guy won’t talk to you anymore. He seems a bit unstable.

But I just have to bring him back his Pompoms! It is my fault, after all. I am the one that left the bathroom window open after my bowels revolted from the uncooked vegetables that I had been nibbling on all day. I’m leaving now and won’t come back until I find all of the Pompoms. I found two yesterday. We’ll see how it goes today. Can you Pandas let me know in the comments section how many you have found? That way I can keep track. I gotta go. Bye!

Uhmm…Ella? Nope, she’s gone. Oh well, I have a little surprise for you Pandas. Maybe you’ve already seen it – the cool, new function in your inventory list. Starting tomorrow you’ll be able to sort your clothes and items. I mean, it’s not like you put your underwear and jeans in the same drawer at home! This way, you can also find your clothes a lot faster.
