Strange noises!!!

Wednesday, September 10th, 2008

Last night we were a little bored so we thought we’d go see what Prof. Bookworm was up to.

- We sometimes like to surprise him with a visit.

- Although we always take something for him to eat, as we know he doesn’t look after himself well when he’s caught up in his research!

- So we packed a little basket of strawberry rhubarb cake and a couple of bottles of lemonade and set of for the cave under the jungle.

It was quite dark by the time we got there and always a little spook to go down there but at least we were together!

When we approached the cave we could hear some strange noises that didn’t sound familiar. As we walked down the stairs and got closer to the Professor’s laboratory, the noises got louder!

The door to the laboratory was open ad we were able to see the Professor standing at his workbench with some strange looking machine. Behind him in the corner were… musical instruments! Guitar, Drum kit…

- How strange! We didn’t know that the Professor was a musician. – Although the sounds that were coming out of the machine didn’t sound very musical!

We were just about to enter the Lab when the Professor saw us and quickly shut the door in our faces! How mysterious! What is the professor up to now?

Are the strange noises that were coming out of that machine something he is building for Panfu? Stay tuned!

Until next time!

The Green Capsule

Thursday, June 26th, 2008

Hi cool pandas!  Yesterday, we were enjoying the summer sun on our fur when suddenly we had a new assignment! Prof. Bookworm has been working so hard in his new laboratory that he hasn’t had time to cook or eat! So we went to visit him in the cave with some yummy food we had made for him. We climbed down the stairs (which are not so scary now!) and knocked on his door. When the Professor opened the door, we were greeted by a big cloud of green smoke! Ella had a coughing fit and it took some minutes before the smoke passed and we could actually see Prof. Bookworm standing in the doorway. If we hadn’t brought him his lunch, we think the Prof. would have starved! He was very happy to see us and the peanut butter and jelly sandwiches we had made for him!

As he hungrily  munched away, we had a few questions for the professor, because we reporters are always curious! We want to know, just like you, what exactly goes on down in the cave!

But we could get NOTHING our of the Professor! He wouldn’t tell us why he needs the stones we’ve all collected; what the formulas, which are scrawled on paper all over his lab means; and what the strange green capsule-thing is in the corner. The Professor only mumbled and was lost in his own deep thoughts, as usual! A real mad professor! So after the Professor has finished eating, we left him to his work. Naturally we would love to report more to you but it seems that this time there nothing to report, just riddles to solve! What exactly is that green capsule? What does it do? What are the strange noises it makes? We will keep you posted as soon as we find out! Until then, make sure you wash behind those panda ears! Ella & Max

Secret Cave Paintings Discovered!

Tuesday, June 24th, 2008

Hello, cool pandas!

How was your weekend? We were in the dark even though the sun was shining the whole weekend!  Why? OK, OK, we’ll tell you!

We went to discover the new cave under the jungle which is Prof. Bookworm’s new laboratory! You must have read about it in the the Panfu News, right? (So, it turns out that I wasn’t imagining those noises the other night when I went investigating!)

On Saturday evening, we packed our investigation equipment together: flashlights, pen & pad (always needed), a rope and a thermos jug with hot Bamboo tea (caves can be cold!) With everything in a backpack we had our hands free to make discoveries. (Max has his tea  sooooo sweet! At least 20 pieces of sugar! Yuck! - Not true! Anyway: Bamboo tea without sugar tastes just horrible, Ella!

Anyway, we took the new staircase down into the cave carefully (it was a little scary in the dark). We noted the safety ropes. The Professor had already gone home but it wasn’t him who we wanted to see…. It was the cave painting that we head heard about existed down there! As we all know from school, pandas used to live in caves hundreds of years ago, because tree-houses weren’t invented yet! In those days, they used to paint their experiences and memories on the cave walls. Some of those paintings are still there today!

But there is a secret trick to these special panda cave paintings. They can only be seen with a special flash-light and only on the longest day of the year. When is the longest day??? June 21st, of course! Last Saturday night!

So there we were, on the right day, with the right flash-light and lo and behold, what did we see? THE MOST BEAUTIFUL CAVE PAINTINGS! With these paintings, we were able to see how the first pandas lived. What a fabulous discovery!

Suddenly, Ella screamed very loud! It was so loud that I thought my heart had slipped into my trousers! I thought we had met a cave bear or something! But no, thankfully it was only Prof. Bookworm turning on his spotlight and investigating the noise we had made!

You’re funny, Max! I suddenly felt something soft on my left ear! It gave me a fright so I screamed! Plus, you screamed louder than me!

Nevertheless, the adventure was enough for one evening! We packed up our back-packs quickly and went back home to right this report. We had even forgotten to drink the Bamboo tea!

The next day, Sunday, we reported to the professor about the secret paintings. He wants to find a way so that soon all the pandas can see the creative work of our ancestors on any day! Stay tuned!

So that was our weekend!

See you in Panfu and thank you for the nice comments here in the Blog!
